52 List Project Week 6 / The Ways In Which You Can Love Others

My gift from God is the gift of helps and encouragement.  I would give you the shirt off my back if you needed it. Burr, it is cold outside. Living in Southern California we have a large homeless population so my heart beats for this population. Jesus states in Luke 10 that we are to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”; and, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Later in this chapter. Jesus  shares the parable about the Good Samaritan.

This week’s list is ways in which we can love others.

Praying is the best gift we can give anyone. The gift of intercessory prayer. We will know at the end of our lives just how much our prayers mean.

And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.… (Revelation 5:7-9)

Listening is another gift. Sometimes all we do is talk. The art of listening is a wonderful gift that encompasses time and conveys a message that this person is important.

Spending time with a person is a way to show that one cares and loves that person.

Turning off your cell phone or not being on social media when you are with your friend or your husband shows that you care for the person.

Caring for yourself is another way to show others that you care or love them.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Massaging my husband’s back shows that I care.

Reading the Bible for my husband and praying scripture for him until he does the reading himself. I have done this not to preach and be the Holy Spirit but as a help mate because I care for him.

Giving away resources as God allows — books, bibles, and cash. When someone has no food, I am the person to give a Subway card and a bottle of water. When someone would like to take part but can not afford the book, I buy the book. When someone needs money to buy medicine, I buy the medicine if I know and have the money to share the many blessings that God has given me.

Tangible ways to say I care may just be a smile, a holding of a hand, a pat on the back, a hug. The good Samaritan went out of his way to make sure the needs met before he left and each one of us can say I care in so many ways from a whispered prayer to buying a cup of coffee.  Did I tell you I have water in my car for the homeless? Blessings.

What is one way that you show others that you care for and love them?
