Advent-21

The fourth candle represents love. As we light the third purple candle, we only have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday lighting these candles because on Christmas Day, the white candle is the Christ candle is lit.

We have hope at Christmas because God sent His son. Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that
you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  We experience peace because of Jesus.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world
gives.  “I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart.

We have joy.

John 15:11

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

We have love.

I John 4:7

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Dear friends,
let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.

Ann Voskamp shares today about John the Baptist. He was the cousin to Jesus. He is foretold in Isaiah just as Jesus is foretold in Isaiah. John the Baptist is a voice shouting in the wilderness, “Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming, Clear the road for Him.” Matthew 3:1-3  Ann says, “there are few roads in the wilderness, so Christ is the only way.”

God comes for you in the wilderness. He wants you to rest in Him. Celebrate, rest, draw near to God and he will draw near to you. God comes to you. Jesus is the gift. Ann shares, “That is all there is left in these last day of Advent road–the sacredness of His presence saturating everything. You can feel it, even now. Your Christmas becoming more. Becoming miracle.

Ask God to make your secular tasks into something sacred.

Last year, something took over me, the need for approval and to be liked were so important to me. I spent to much money-getting everything on my grandchildren’s Christmas list. I wasn’t seeking Jesus or serving Jesus in my efforts. This year I want to be different. I am seeking the Lord and honoring him that is why I am reading and writing this blog, to honor Jesus.

Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.  Rest my friend in Jesus’ hope, peace, joy and love.  Blessings.  Diana
