Advent-8

stairway to heaven

I love clouds and God paints a beautiful sky. In the reading today from The Greatest Gift we meet Jacob.  Issac is the father of Jacob. Jacob had tricked Esau out of his birthright and Jacob had received the blessings from his father. Issac told Jacob not to marry a Canaanite woman. So he sent him to his mother’s family. Jacob was on his way to Harran and he lays down to sleep.

In Genesis 28: 12 “He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13There above itc stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.d 15I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

16When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”

I love when Ann says, Jesus doesn’t show you the steps to heaven, He is the steps to Heaven.

In this season of advent we celebrate Jesus’ birth and the good news is that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Ann asks, “When do you find yourself striving, reaching, grasping for the next rung of the ladder to pull yourself closer to God?

He cares for you

Father God, your love is so amazing, thank you for giving us your Son to be our savior. Thank you that we can cast our anxiety on you because you care for us.

Dear One, Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Blessings, Diana
