Be Thankful-13

always giving thanks to God the Father (1)

p

Today is Thankful Thursday. This month I have tried to develop an attitude of gratitude and I am more conscious of my own personal habit of not always being grateful. I spent my afternoon at the doctor’s office because I have a sore at the back of my throat. That little thing that hangs in the back of your throat in the shape of a “U” is  a uvula. I have a sore on my uvula which is causing me much pain when I swallow. I have to share that my first instinct is to not be thankful that I am sick but the above verse says to always give thanks for everything. I am thankful for my doctor who prescribed me a medicine that has Lidocaine in the medicine and it helped some with the pain. I am thankful that this virus is treatable even if it is with rest. I am thankful that now you are reading about me being sick you will pray for me and forgive me if this post does not make any sense.

I am reading several books at the time of this post. One is Victory Over The Darkness by Neil Anderson. It is an amazing book about who we are in Christ. This is the ministry that I am a member of a team of women who pray for women and we walk them through the Steps To Freedom a booklet that helps them discover who they are in Christ. I am reading Before Amen, a book by Max Lucado on prayer. I am reading a book by Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts. She opens with tragedy and I am in Chapter 4 and she is counting her blessings, writing down blessings until she recognizes One Thousand Gifts. I have never read a book like this book. I love some of the things on her list. I will let you know more about this book in the next few weeks. As I think about what I read today, I can’t imagine listing one thousand things but what if we started with five each. Would you share five things you are thankful for today?

Father God, the song Count Your Blessings, Name Them One By One comes to my mind. I take for granted the blessings that are right in front of me. Today I pray for the person that is struggling just to get through the day. I pray for us to recognize how blessed we are. I ask Lord that you will heal me and heal anyone that is reading this and is feeling ill. I pray that we will give thanks for everything because this is your wish for each one of us.

Here are my five things, I am thankful for my little dog Tory that shares this chair and help me write my blog, I am thankful for Lidocaine, I am thankful for Your Word, I am thankful for French Vanilla Creamer, and I am thankful for beautiful skies painted by God.

Your turn, five things you are thankful for………..20140904_092354
