Be Thankful-17

Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the

Sunlight streaming through an open door,

Children playing on the kitchen floor,

Windswept meadows of golden wheat,

Afterglow of sunset, where earth and sky meet–

Myriads of stars shining down on us below,

Earth’s soft blanket on newly fallen snow,

Towering spires of mountain spruce trees,

Glorious tapestried hills of autumn leaves–

Church bells ringing loud and clear

Sending glad tidings far and near.

These are my treasures that I would share….

Thanking God for His ever-loving care.

Job is a man who suffered. His friends well-meaning advice was cruel. Through all the suffering Job never blamed God. Nicole C. Mullen sings a song I Know My Redeemer Lives that is so powerful. Job knew His Redeemer Lived, at one point, he says to his critics including his wife, “should I accept only the good from God?” Chapter 38 of Job is one of the most wonderful chapters in the Bible, God is speaking to Job and God reminds Job of His attribute of omnipotence and Miss Mullen sings of God’s omnipotence pictured in Job 38-39. There are several statements that when you ponder the statements, one cannot help but be thankful. Consider…….

The Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together? Who enclosed the sea with doors, when bursting forth, it went out from the womb; when I made a cloud its garment. Have you ever commanded the morning and caused the dawn to know its place? Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Have you understood the expanse of the earth? Have you entered the storehouses of the snow? Have you seen the storehouses of hail? Can you lift your voice to the heavens? Can you hunt the prey for the lion or satisfy the appetite of the young lions? Who sent out the wild donkey free? Do you give the horse his might? Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars, stretching his wings towards the south? In Chapter 40:1-2, the Lord said to Job, “Will the fault-finder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it.”

Job answered the Lord and said, “Behold I am insignificant what can I reply to Thee?”

Job’s life redeemed by God, Job pass the test that Satan had meant for harm. Trials, Illness, Strife in one’s family, these circumstances can make one question where is God. In James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it all joy, my brother (sister), when you meet various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and let endurance have its perfect result , that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” However, God is with us in the midst of the trial, illness, and strife.

Father God, there is so much to thank you for every single day. From the sun, the clouds, the rain, to our family and friends. Lord, Job lost everything including his health and he never blamed you, let that be an example when we endure difficult times. Thank you Lord for your love. Thank you Lord for all that you have created. Blessings.
