Gratitude

Be Thankful-2

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, And is truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5

Dear One, as you know I just completed writing for the 31 days in October, I have to tell you the last seven days were difficult

because I did not have my laptop at my dad’s home in Oklahoma. I am not complaining. LOL. I feel that God would like me to write about Thankfulness every day in the month of November. I have some ideas about how we express and show our thankfulness.

Today is Sunday and it is worship Sunday. The first few verses in Psalm 100 says, “make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!  Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Today let us be thankful and praise the Lord. Praise and thanksgiving go hand in hand. In verse 3, “Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Verse 4-5 says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting. And His truth endures to all generations.

My prayer journalis divided in to two sections. The first section is my PART, the second section is God’s Part. I use the system from BeckyTirabassi, Change Your Life. com. Her legacy is that daily she spends an hour a day reading from the Change Your Life Bible, which includes the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs, and praying using the prayer journal she developed. God’s Part in the journal is known as the L, M, N, O, P. She recommends using the bible and recording verses from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I try to convert the verses into prayers. Becky has a vast amount of resources one is the Burning Heart Contract. Another, Sacred Obsession, Let Prayer Change Your Life

. This is where I learned to write out my prayers. One can make a prayer journal by getting a notebook, dividers, and loose leaf paper.

For today let’s practice praise. Say outloud or write Father God, I praise You because you are my creator, You are my sustainer, You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and The End. You are Holy. You are merciful and loving. You forgive my sins as far as the east is from west.

Let’s practice admission. Father God, I admit that I have been struggling having quiet time with you. I have struggled with not reading your word on a regular basis. Lord it says in 1 John 1:9, “if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Dear One, if I ever confess something to personal in here, I run the paper through the shredder. There is something about the sound of the shedder that helps me visualize as far as east is from west because God is faithful to forgive me and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

Let’s practice request. I enter the date 11/02/14, Father God, I pray for a safe flight home today, that I will make my connecting flight. This prayer is specific. Your have to have a desire when you pray. Mark 11:24 says that when you ask you must believe. The  more specific you are you will see the answers which may be yes, no, or wait. He says in Luke 11:9, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. In verse 10, “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be open. Dear One, if your prayer seems unanswered, keep praying because sometimes that answer is wait. If it is no, God has a better plan.

Lets practice thanksgiving, I write my prayer of thanks daily. Father God, I want to thank you for your son, Jesus. He is my lord and savior. I thank you that I can come to you in prayer at any time of the day or night. I thank you for your word. In Psalms 119: 105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  I thank you that in verses 114-117, you are my hiding place, my shield, I can hope in Your word. I thank you that I do not have to be ashamed, you hold me, and I will be safe.

Today will you go before the Lord and praise Him, will you list 5 things you are thankful. I am thankful that you are reading my blog post. I am thankful for Who you are in Christ: http:www.diana2rockwell.com/who-I-am-in-Christ. If you are lacking a reason to thank God use this list.

Father God, help each one of us to enter your presence thanksgiving and praise. Blessings.

What a great discipline you’ve outlined for keeping our hearts thankful! I’ve keep a prayer journal (although not this specific format) for about 30 years. It’s fun to read back over them some times and see how God has answered prayers and changed me.
