Be Thankful-30

This is the last day of a personal challenge to write for thirty days on giving thanks and I added no complaining for the thirty days. There were times when I would slip a little bit and find myself complaining. However, I would quickly realize and take the thought I had captive to the Lord and change my stinking thinking.

In addition to the Bible, I am reading several books. All of the books are impacting my choices as we enter these last thirty one days of the year. Max Lucado wrote Before Amen and I have to tell you this book is helping me to let go of the legalism that I still have in my life in regards to prayer. I am discovering that there are many pocket prayers in the Bible.  Four brief sentences describes the essence of prayer,

“WE SPEAK. HE LISTENS. HE SPEAKS. WE LISTEN” Max Lucado

The pocket prayer is “Father, You are good, I need help, they need help, Thank you. In Jesus name, Amen.” Other pocket prayers are Elijah’s prayer in 1 Kings 18:36-37,  King David’s prayer in Psalm 13,  and Jesus prayer in Luke 11:1-4.

The other book I am reading is Neil Anderson’s Victory Over Darkness. I read this book in 1995 when I went through The Steps To Freedom. This book teaches to stand firm in our heritage. In Ephesians 1, our heritage is secure because those of us who believe we are adopted as sons and daughters of the Lord. We are “IN  Christ.”

Tomorrow I will be reading Ann Voskamp’s book and joining Heather Faria’s book study and my friend Barbie Hernandez Swihart  will be asking questions on her face book page. This year I want more of Jesus and less of the world so I will be writing my thoughts on the advent of Christ.

I have had many blessings since I started writing daily in October. Recently I had written about Hannah  and how she prayed year after year for a child and when she was at the end of her rope, God answered her prayer.

I learned the song on the above picture as a child. Thank you Lord says it all. I am thankful that you saved my soul, I am thankful that you made me whole, I am thankful for my salvation, I am thankful for my husband, I am thankful for my sons, their wives, grandsons, and granddaughters. I am thankful for my mother-in-law and my father, I am thankful for my sister in-laws, my nieces, my nephews, my family and my friends and lastly I am thankful for pumpkin pie and you who take the time to read my ramblings. I am truly blessed.

Father God, I am in awe of your majesty. I am in awe that Jesus chose to be a baby and lived a perfect sinless life so that I can have eternal life. Your word says that Jesus who knew no sin became sin so that I could have eternal life. Thank you Lord for this amazing journey we are living. You are the alpha the omega the beginning the end. You are my everything.  bible (1)

Your turn I am thankful for…………………….
