Be Thankful-6

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.  Psalm 95:2

WORSHIP

As a little girl, my daddy played the guitar. My parents loved to sing. Some of my best memories are of dad strumming his guitar.  I can still hear my mom singing, “Amazing Grace”. My dad would sing western music and religious music.  I loved hearing him sing, “I Come To The Garden Alone.”

When I was about twenty-five my dad had to make a choice of either preaching or singing. This was a hard decision for him because he was good at both but God has called him a minister. On my recent trip to see my dad I was able to hear him preach at an Indian Church and one of the members sang Amazing Grace in his native language. Although, I did not know the words in Apache dialect, I knew the song and the music filled my heart. I  thank God for songs of praise.

When we are rejoicing and thanking the Lord, there is little room for complaining or grumbling.

Will you join me today and praise the Lord?

Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 16:36

Matt Maher wrote the above verse into a praise song and the song is one of my favorites.  The words that are so reassuring are, “Give Thanks to the Lord for His love never ends and all the people said, Amen.

I have so many other songs that run through my head that I am in awe of God’s love for giving us music.  Today I want to give thanks to the Lord for the gift of salvation, for His Mercy, for His grace. King David loved God and is a man after God’s own heart, and King David would play his harp and write music. King David knew the avenue to God was through praise.

Father God, I praise you today and I thank you that I am free to worship you. I am free to clap my hands, raise my hands, or just sing to my heart’s content. What a friend we have in Jesus all our sins and griefs to bear, what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. And all the people said Amen.

Your turn, I am thankful for……….

Blessings
