Better Together

Better Together

Coffee with Holley Gerth

Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two

The question this week is who in your life lives these words: “I don’t have it all together. But I believe we’re better together.”

She is eleven years older than I am, however, our age difference never concerns us. Rolling back the clock, as a young woman, working as a business office clerk at the local hospital, filing is my job. I am pregnant with my second child and I suffered all day morning sickness. Because I am a bit slower at filing as my tummy is pretty round. This particular day, on break I am reading Grace Livingston Hill and this woman walks into the break room, we begin to chat about the author. She is a Christian, she has a five-year old, I have a three-year old. And this is the beginning of a life long friendship. My son is now 38 for thirty-eight years she has been my friend and definitely I could say to her, “I don’t have it all together. But I believe we’re better together.”

We have babysat for each other, we worked, we prepared meals together, we gave bridal and baby showers. Teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School is some of the things we did together. We shopped together, we lost weight together, and we even made our clothes together. Lastly, we prayed and studied God’s word together.

Our friendship is one that I think of as a blessing. Jonathan and David had that kind of fellowship and friendship.

As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit
to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.  1 Samuel 18:1

Beloved, do you have a good friend? Is there someone who you can be completely honest? Is there someone who you know you are better together?

To cultivate this kind of friendship, it takes investing time and prayer but the reward is that the friendship can lasts a life time. If you do not have this type of friendship and want one, pray that God will bring one into your life.

Lastly, I have many great friends and to those that are reading this thank you for your love.

I consider you one of my most beautiful friends! The gals I get together with every month during four “girl’s dinner and in-home movie night” I’ve been in relationship with for 10 years or more. I am thankful for the many beautiful women in my life.
