In Exodus 24:18 it says, ” Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.”
During this time, God gives Moses the blueprints of the tabernacle and the furnishings. There was the ark of the covenant, table, lamp-stand. There was to be an altar and a courtyard. The Lord told Moses about oil for the lamps, and clothes for the priests, the altar of incense, how to collect atonement money. there was to be a basin for washing, anointing oil, pure incense. This was in Chapters 25-31 and at the end of Exodus 31: 18 says, “When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.’ In Exodus 32, Moses has not returned and the people probably didn’t believe he was coming back so they beg Aaron for a God that they can pray to, they did not adjust to having Moses not around, so they fashioned a golden calf.
My Five Minutes of Thoughts on Adjust.
The Israelites were wandering in the desert, they had trouble adjusting that God had answered their cries for help and delivered them from the Egyptians. Then Moses goes up the mountain for the forty days and nights. They did not adjust to Moses being away. In Exodus 32: 1 we read, “When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us godsa who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”
Sometimes we are asked to adjust our schedule, adjust the time we get off, adjust our lives to plan B when we were counting on plan A.
These are the times when we need to trust God. If the people had trusted God at this point, things might have been different, more on this story tomorrow. They did not trust Moses who lead them out of Egypt. He was missing in action, and they had no faith.
Father God, help me adjust to the things that I am being asked to change. Help me to change and to accept the things I can and the courage to know the difference. Lord for the person who is tired from always having to make adjustments let him or her be refreshed and have a different perspective. Father you are the alpha the omega the beginning the end, you made me so you know that I do not always adjust well to change. Yet I want to do your will. Help me increase my faith to feel your presence when I am asked to adjust my life one more time. Blessings.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11-12
