Blessings-Fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Background

In Exodus 33, God has told Moses to finish the journey to take the Israelites to the land flowing with milk and honey but God was so disappointed in the Israelites. He called them stiff-necked people. God declared that He would not go with them to the land of milk and honey. When the people heard this they were sad.

Moses went to the tent  meeting. When Moses went to the tent a pillar of cloud would manifest at the front of the tent. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face. This time Moses intercedes for the people, he asks the Lord to go with them on the rest of their journey. In Exodus 33:17-23 we hear the words, “ The LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.”18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Then the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall standthere on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 “Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

My Five Minutes of thoughts on Fear

Moses intercedes for the Israelites because he knows that although they were stiff-necked people who made a poor choice asking for a god to follow, there would be much fear if God was not with them on the journey to the land flowing with milk and honey. Just hearing the words that God was not going to be with them caused them to mourn. We have not been given a spirit of fear. God has not given us fear. But how many of us are afraid of failure, death, not being loved and the list can go on and on. Dear friend, God did not give you a spirit of fear. If you are afraid this is not from God. Moses intercedes for the people and God changes His mind and is with the Israelites as they journey to the promise land. If you renounce your fear and stand in the truth that God did not give you a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. You can overcome your fear. Blessings.

Father God I ask that today your presence goes with each one of us. I ask if anyone is afraid that they give you their fears. Just as you knew Moses you know us. I ask that we remember who we are IN Christ as we face our fears.
