Blessings-United

  • Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite  my heart to fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy towards me. Psalm 86: 11-13

Background.

In Numbers 12, we find Moses troubled because his brother and Aaron spoke against his wife. His wife was from Ethopia. There was sibling rivalry as Miriam and Aaron posed the question, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses?” “Has he not spoken through us also?” The Lord heard it, he also saw Moses countenance because Moses was troubled by what they said. The Lord heard it also and He called them out of the Tabernacle of meeting. The three were no longer united. The Lord asks, “Is there a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself know to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, and he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”  The Lord was so angry He departed from them and Miriam was struck with leprosy. Aaron said to Moses, “please do not lay this sin on us.” So Moses prayed to God, “Please heal her, O God, I pray.” The Lord told Moses he would heal her in seven days.

My five-minutes of thoughts on the word United.

Miriam and Aaron were Moses brother and sister. Moses was the baby of the family if you remember Miriam was with her brother when he was placed in the Nile to be found by the princess, the daughter of the Pharaoh of Egypt. The princess united Moses with his mother because she told Miriam to go and find someone to nurse Moses. In the bible I have from David Jeremiah the notes say that Moses was a very humble man and suggest that his strength came through his humility. Dr. JEREMIAH said the word humble is much better translated as “terribly broken.” He said that the attacks on Moses from the people were one thing  but the attacks from his siblings were heartbreaking.  There is pain when a family is not united. Have you ever had a time when a family member was angry, or lied, or talked behind your back? Moses prayed for his sister and she is restored to health after the seven days, but was the relationship re-united? I would like to think that it was. Is there a relationship that you need to ask God to heal? Is there someone you need to forgive? Sometimes, reconciliation is not a possibility but forgiveness is between you and God. I choose to forgive (Name) for (what the person did) and it made me feel (angry, sad, lonely, etc).  In November 1995, I forgave my husband for pain I felt he had caused me to suffer. I forgave him for every wrong I could think of and that day was a turning point for me. God united my heart with his and I began to care for him which turned in to love. The process of forgiving was something Moses did and then he prayed for his sister. Miriam suffered separation for seven days but the reunion must have been sweet when she was healed by God and united with her brother. Blessings.

BLESSED IS THE POOR IN SPIRIT, FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.  Matthew 5:3

This verse pertains to the humble. Dr. Jeremiah says those with destitute hearts since their spiritual need and seek after God. They have the advantage –and the great joy–of being able to cry out to God for help.

Wow Diana this was a good one and you have no idea how close to home you hit. We are having serious family problems with my aunts, uncles and cousins. It’s so sad because my grandma is 92 and she is not going to be around forever. But one of my uncles is just pure hateful, mean and a bully. It is very difficult because my kids and I are the ones he is targeting. My mother, sister and I are having a terrible time dealing with this and I know that God is still in control. But it’s hard to pray for someone who is intent on intentionally attacking my kids and I. So as you can see this really hit home for me. I think I needed this…I haven’t talked about this out loud yet to anyone besides mom and sis so thanks for letting me have my little rant. You are a true blessing Diana and I thank God for you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Last night I heard a teaching on praying for your “specials,” and this post reminded me of it. Sometimes those who are closest to is hurt is the most. But we’re to pray for them with a heart of love, even when we don’t like them.

What a great post! This definitely hits home with my family. There has been some instances where I felt they didn’t show any loyalty, etc.
