Characteristic Twenty-Seven of a Believer-True

We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors. 2 Corinthians 6:8

Telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God. This is said in a court of law when one has to testify we promise to tell the truth. However, in life, we are not always truthful. We may share a shade of truth but not the whole truth. For example, what do you say when someone says, “Do I look fat in this outfit?” Often, someone would ask how I was feeling and rather than say, “I’m fine,” I would say, “I’m blessed.”

Beloved, the twenty-seventh characteristic of a born-again believer is one is true. True’s defined as in accordance with fact or reality. Synonyms are correct, accurate, right, verifiable, in accordance with the facts, what really happened or well documented. In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Then in John 15: 1-2, Jesus shares, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.” We worship Jesus in truth. Beloved, there is no way to God except through the truth of Jesus. Jesus being the truth, we’re to be true to those around us. When we look at the John 15 verses, God’s the keeper of the vineyard, Jesus through the Holy Spirit cuts off every branch in me that’s not bearing fruit, He prunes me to make me more truthful and fruitful. How are you in the truth department? Is it hard for you to be truthful?

Beloved, the twenty-seventh characteristic of a born-again believer is one is true.

When asked, “How are you?” I respond, “I’m blessed.” The reason I would say I’m blessed is that most days I have a headache and do not feel well. It is much easier to say I’m blessed which regardless of how I feel is the truth.

Father God, thank you that you are a God of truth. You want us to be true to ourselves and true to Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Lord, if there is one reading this that needs to be reconciled to you let them make that decision today. Lord, help us to be truthful, today by praying and being in your word. In the name of Jesus’ Amen,

What do you need to do to add truth to your life?
