31 Day Writings Bible Study

Day-12 Advent

The God of peace be with you all. Amen.Romans 15-13

Lighting our peace candle and our hope candle, illuminating the room with Christ’s light and love.

When there’s harmony, there is peace,
Joy on earth does increase.
For peace to grow in your community,
The first step is social unity.

We all know that healthy relations,
Are the keys to peaceful nations.
War and conflicts, we must avoid,
So that beauty of life, may be enjoyed.

We just need to open our hearts,
That’s where peace clearly starts.
It’s not that difficult to embrace and find,
With a caring and open mind.

Our world filled with violence yet we know whom the author of peace is God. Troubled,  we are not to let our hearts be troubled. John 14:1  Herod the King caused unrest in the land when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The wise men from the East came to Jerusalem asking,

“Where is the King of the Jews? For we have seen the star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:

‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,

are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;

for out of you will come a ruler

who will shepherd my people Israel.’b

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Matthew 2: 2-12

As you know King Herod wanted to kill Jesus, he did not have peace in mind. To keep Jesus safe and an angel appeared to Joseph instructing him to take Mary and the young Child to Egypt. This was an act of peace. However, King Herod killed all the male boys age of 2 years and under, no peace in the land and this fulfilled another prophecy.

Beloved, we have the God of peace in our lives so no matter what is going on in the world we have peace that passes all under standing.
