Lighting the second candle today and it is the Peace Candle. Recently another shooting, seventeen people killed, will we ever have world peace. Those of us that are Christians have read the end of the story and the Bible says there will be wars and rumors of wars. What the world needs right now is God and peace?
Dear Lord,
Through the darkness, I look for your wisdom.
I want my heart to be open to you.
But sometimes in these days, it seems that
so many things come between us.
Help me to be awake and aware
of the radiance you bring to my life.
Help me to be grateful each day
for the blessings of family and friends.
Let me be a peacemaker
in my own life, and in the world.
Let me pray especially for this difficult world
and those who are so in need of an end to violence.
My heart begs for this as my Advent prayer today.
Where there is discouragement, give me courage. Where there is fear, give me peace. Where there is hate, give me forgiveness. Where there is disharmony, give me harmony. If I am depressed, let me find hope in you. If I am helpless, let me find help in you. If I am struggling in my relationship with God, let me run to God and repent.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11
