Doubt

Go.

Seeing the word “Doubt”  as the writing prompt, immediately I thought of the disciple Thomas. Jesus risen from the grave has made many appearances and the disciples know Jesus is alive proclaim to Thomas in John 20: 24-25

Now Thomas (also known as Didymusa ), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Beloved, how many times do we doubt God’s word, doubt his love, doubt we are good enough? Doubt fills us with uncertainty, second guessing, and fear. Scripture proves that Jesus is all-knowing, read it with me, John 20: 26-29

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Stop.

What doubts do you have that need to be given to Jesus? When you are second guessing yourself, what do you need to do? What scriptures can you memorize that will help you with doubt?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledgf any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.rovere him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-6

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:6

And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. Matthew 21:21

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8

Father God, thank you for your patience with us that doubt, I give my doubt of __________________________ to you. I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit and erase this doubt so I may believe that you love me. In Jesus name, I place my trust in you. Amen

Dear Martha, I loved your post. I also thought of writing on Peter when he took his eyes off Jesus and sank in the water in Matthew 14:13 capturing the doubt. Blessings Diana
