Embrace

Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. Proverbs 3:18

The Bible shares much about wisdom. According to Proverbs 3:18, embracing wisdom and holding her tightly leads to happiness.  Besides wisdom what else might we embrace? Life, love, hope, peace, trust, faith, and laughter.

I KNOW

I don’t know where I’m going,
But I do know where I’m from,
I know about pain and sorrow,
The beauty of love and its song,
I know about the heartache,
The suffering the despair,
I know I’ll never stop loving,
Or that I really care,
I know why we ask the questions,
And how they came to be,
I know when we find the answers,
We are humbled, Brought down to our knees,
Moral lessons and our need to learn them,
Temperance, Justice, Patience, and Strength,
Understanding, Truth, Wisdom, Courage,
That our thirst will never be quenched,
Striving ever forward but never far enough,
To reach our goal the heavens,
The blessings of those above.

King Solomon asks the Lord for wisdom. Because this is his want, God grants him wisdom and gives him wealth. God gave Solomon such an excellent mind. Sadly, in the end Solomon strayed from God’s law. Beloved, stay close to the Lord. In the verses below He preserves the way of his godly ones.

In Proverbs 2: 6-8,

For the LORD gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

Guarding the paths of justice,
And He preserves the way of His godly ones.

As we walk with God in integrity some of the ways is to embrace life, love, hope, peace, trust, faith, and lastly in these serious times, we need to embrace laughter.

Embracing life. Life needs cherishing. Beloved are you eating right, making time for exercise, getting proper rest, setting goals, reading God’s word, praying, and taking care of your self?

Embracing love. Love is a natural gift from God. God is love. We love God because God loves us first. Beloved our first love relationship is with God that we need to embrace. I think this is best said in Luke 10:27, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

Embrace hope.  When one is suffering from hopelessness, there is hope. Romans 15:13 states, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Embrace peace. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Embrace trust. As a child, I loved this song, ‘Trust and obey for there is no other way to way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey’. Proverbs 3: 5-6, ” Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Such is life, we need to embrace trust in God.

Embrace faith.  What is the object of your faith? When we sit in a chair we have faith that the chair will support our weight. I hope it is Jesus.  Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Beloved, let’s embrace laughter.
