My husband scheduled for surgery to correct a mistake, the rods in his back are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration, we only find this out because of his pain’s no better, the news grim from the Orthopedic specialist in Los Angeles. His doctor’s said if the rods did not come out, the ability to stand straight would not exist. Surgery started at 7:00 am, receiving instructions to return to the hospital at noon because his surgery would only be five hours, I left the hotel as we live in the San Diego area, checking in and I wait. Not too concerned and then the hours with no word from anyone. Fear grips me, my thought, “What’s wrong?”

Beloved. what are your fears?

Neil Anderson in the Bondage Breaker write in the Steps to Freedom explaining fear.  Do you have a fear of failure, rejection, disappointment, illness, never getting married, divorce, financial issues, going crazy, being harassed, never having a child, illness, pain, losing your salvation, dying, disapproval, and never being loved. On page 216 Dr. Anderson says, “Fear weakens us to be self-centered and clouds our minds so that all we can think about is the thing that frightens us. But fear can only control us if we let it.”

In 1 Corinthians 6: 11-12, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. “Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.  Berean Study Bible. God in his love for us sanctified us, justified us, filled us with the Holy Spirit. He did not want us to be mastered by anything beloved including fear. So this makes this verse, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV  In 2 Timothy 2:11, Jesus is to be our only master, “Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him;” In John 13:13, Jesus acknowledges himself after he washes the feet of the disciples as, “”You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.” In order to conquer fear, we must only have one legitimate fear object in our life and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Have you allowed the roaring lion to cause havoc in your life? We’re told to give our anxiety to Jesus. When we allow our anxieties to rule us and our worries to get our of hand this can create fear and anxiety. We see this in the passage of 1 Peter 5: 7-8.  So, let me go on with my story. The surgery was in Los Angeles because the doctors in San Diego would not acknowledge a problem. Alone this day, sitting in the waiting room, watching the clock, tick-tick, tick-tick, no one seemed able to tell me anything, I kept asking them to call to the surgical room. Where had I missed the information that the surgery is longer than now seven hours, I call my church in Escondido, Ca, a pastor calls me and we pray. I call my sons who couldn’t come. Fears subsides some, I quit crying, I’m a nurse, I figure he is alive, no code blue’s calls, but why don’t they just send someone to tell me what is going on?

[Tweet “We have to renounce fear. Fear has no place in the life of a believer. Fear or faith.”]

Beloved, the truth about fear is we have to renounce fear. Fear has no place in the life of a believer. Fear or Faith.

In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:18

How do you renounce the fear? You stand in the truth. Per Dr. Neil Anderson one says, “I renounce the ( name the fear) because God has given me a spirit of fear. I choose to live by faith in God who has promised to protect me and meet all my needs as I walk by faith in Him.”

It is good to research when the fear occurred. If you have a fear of never losing weight, you must do the work, you renounce the fear and claim the verse, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? But then you can’t continue to eat like there is not tomorrow.

So, finally fifteen hours later the surgeon came to the waiting room, I will not tell you what I said to him, I had to temper my words. I still do not know why this hospital had this practice or this doctor felt he owed me no updates but fear oh my goodness, I was so afraid, and then my husband was not placed in the ICU so I sternly requested that the doctor write an order allowing me in his hospital room. I received glares all night. I faced my fears with God that week. Today my husband has had two more surgeries since that one, but with God I am no longer afraid, I know God has the outcome. He has a suture needle in his back from the original surgery we are not able to receive any compensation but vengeance is Gods and forgiveness is mine.

Beloved, will you make a list of your fears, the origin of your fears, find the truth in God’s word, renounce the lies associate with the fear, then pray and let go of the fear.

Life Lesson: God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

Song: I Will Fear No Evil

Father God, Your word says in Proverbs 15:33, “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honor. We know you are the only legitimate fear object. Yet satan is a roaring lion seeking to devour us but your word says in James 4:7 that we are to submit to you, resist the devil and he will flee from us. It is the same with fear, we do not have to be afraid, because you want to give us victory over our anxiety we can give our cares to you as you ask us to in 1 Peter 5:7 and we do not have to be overtaken by our emotions of fear, anxiety, and worry. We can come to you and you will give us rest. Lord if someone does not know you or is so depressed and full of fear that they need hope, please help them Lord to reach out to someone. If they are hopeless, I pray for a hope that prevails, and someone to come along side them to point them to you. If they are fearful, they will renounce their fears. If they lack trust, they will seek you to trust and obey. All of this I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen
