God speaks to Job, where were you when I created the earth? Beloved, does this stop you in your tracks? God of the universe speaking to you. I know that we hear from God by reading his word, praying his word, and listening to worship music.
In chapter 38, God reveals his creation. He asks Job, who do you think gave weather wisdom? He speaks to Job to show Job God’s greatness.
In chapter 39, God continues to show facts about creation like who do you think set the wild donkey free?
In chapter 40, Job answers God as God ask him directly, “What do you have to say for yourself? Are you going to haul me, the Mighty One, into court and press charges?” Job 40:1
Job answers, “I’m speechless, in awe–words fail me. I should have never have opened my mouth! I’ve talked too much, way too much. I’m ready to shut up and listen.” Job 40: 3-5
In Job 40: 6-14 Dr. Ryrie in his commentary notes from the study bible says that when Job criticized God’s ways, he was in effect trying to usurp God’s position as governor of the world. In this paragraph full of irony, God asks if Job can really do those things that only God can do.
In Job 41, God alone is King over all the proud creäture. God is the only one who can tame the creäture.
In Job 42, Job repents of his pride and rebellion and finds contentment in the knowledge that he has God’s fellowship. God is in control. God loves us. Job’s life is restored. God speaks to the three friends. The Lord blesses Job in the later part of his life. He gives him seven more sons, three more daughters, he lived a hundred and forty years to see his children and their children to the fourth generation.
Beloved, we can’t let pride and rebellion sneak into our life. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.
