Five Minute Fridays

Finish

Five Minute Friday- Lisa-Jo Baker started this in 2011. Rules write for five minutes, share, read other blogs and encourage one another. I love what she started and she is now going to entrust this writing group to Kate. She calls Kate her word sister. I love Lisa-Jo, she has done much for my writing and I am sure as the baton is passed to Kate, she will continue with the same excellence. Lisa-Jo wrote a book called Surprised by Motherhood. Her adventure as a mother, her sharing of her family encourages me to share my story and to write whether it be for five minutes or five blog posts. Kate, I hope to become a word sister to many in my blog.

Here are my five minutes.

I love acrostics and the word today is FINISH.

F-Free. I am free in Christ. Free from worry, self-doubt, incriminating thoughts. Galatians 5:1 I can stand with God and feel his freedom.
I-Image. I am made in His image. Psalm 139:14 says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Genesis 1:27 says we were all made in the image of God.
N-Need. I love a song I learned as a child. “I need thee oh I need thee, every hour I need thee, most blessed Lord my Savior, I come to thee” The best part of needing Jesus is that He is sufficient to meet my needs. Philippians 4:19
I-Immeasurably. I know that God is able to do immeasurably more than I can imagine. Ephesians 3:20
S-Sanctified. I am sanctified in Jesus because of his truth. John 17:17
H-Hope. I have hope because of the love Jesus lavished on me. His hope purifies me. I John 3:1-4

The ultimate finish will be to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

Hello, fellow Five Minute Friday-er! I appreciate how your post was grounded in scripture, and especially identified with the hymn “I Need The Every Hour”–one of my favorites as well and one that speaks deeply to my heart. Blessings to you!

Diana – this is brilliant! I am going to have to borrow this idea for a future post. Would’ve come in handy today as I began without a single thought in my head! And such perfect scripture to use to illustrate what we are all striving for…”Well done, good and faithful servant.” Beautiful!
