After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire came a gentle Whisper.

Five Minute Friday: A time to write for five minutes. Free writing without worrying about editing, just five minutes of writing.

Go.

When I saw the word “Whisper” I immediately thought of a song, I have known since I was a child.

Whisper a prayer in the morning, whisper a prayer at noon, whisper a prayer in the evening to keep your heart in tune. God answers prayer in the morning, God answers prayer at noon, God answers prayer in the evening to keep your heart in tune.”

A whisper to the King of Kings, a whisper to the Lord of Lords, a whisper that links my heart with his, a whisper that offers praise for the great things he has done, a whisper that focuses me, a prayer of praise, repentance, requests, and thanksgiving. A whisper that shares my dreams. A whisper that I want to hear, a whisper when I am still,  I love you, Diana.

Stop.

In 1 Kings 18:21, Elijah challenges Ahab, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him, but if Baal is God, follow him.” Elijah then proceeded to set up the greatest test to prove that God is God and Baal is not. Of course, as Elijah prayed with confidence, the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice. The people fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord-He is God.” In chapter 19, after that victory, Jezebel sent a message to Elijah that she was going to kill him. Elijah became afraid and ran for his life. Do you think Elijah felt overwhelmed, he had performed six miracles. Perhaps he listened to the lies of the evil one and he felt discouraged. God did not leave him alone. The Angel of the Lord ministered to Elijah. Elijah’s needs were met and he grew strong. He traveled for forty days until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. The Lord asked him what he was doing there and Elijah said in verse 10, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty.  Elijah then said, “the Israelites have rejected your covenant and they wanted me dead.” The Lord told Elijah in verse 11 a, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord. for the Lord is about to pass by.”  Verse 11b, ” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind, After the wind there was an earthquake. 12. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle WHISPER. 13. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.”

Elijah heard God when God whispered.

What is God whispering to you? Will you spend time in his word and in prayer so that you recognize His whisper?

Father God, I pray for the woman reading this that is struggling with hearing and or believing that you are real. I pray for the woman who needs more than ever to hear you whispering to her that you love her. Elijah suffered from depression after the victory at Mount Carmel, I pray for the woman fatigued and weary from doing good and not seeing any results. Lord I pray that each of us come to you and whisper our prayers. Blessings.  Diana
