Got Imperfections?

Perfect

Got Imperfections

Perfect

Holley Gerth at Coffee with Holley poses this question, “How would your view of yourself change if you began to think God’s definition of ‘perfect’ is actually ‘wildly different’? She has written a beautiful book called “You Are Loved No Matter What.”   Beloved, do you believe you are loved no matter what? No matter what choices you have made you are loved. [Tweet “God is in the business of forgiveness”]  I have never thought of myself as perfect but as a work in progress. Yes, wildly different.

It was dark and cold outside, deciding against a shower I dressed for work. Arriving at work as I climb out of the car I look at my feet, two different color of shoes, one navy one black. Same style of shoe so most likely a person would not notice, however, I felt compelled to tell several people at work. Perfect not even close but wildly different.  I make great enchiladas, one day I made enchiladas for my family. I had made extra so I left the extra enchiladas in the oven while I rested. A week later, a strange smell was in the kitchen, yes you guess it, the enchiladas were in the oven. Perfect not even close but wildly different. Flying to Oklahoma from San Diego as I go through security, I realize I do not have my telephone. Using a pay telephone, I called my husband, no answer what is a person to do? Borrow a fellow passenger’s cell phone, I text my husband. Good thing I went to the airport early, I met my husband at the curb, went back through the screening process and guess what my bags cleared the first time but not the second time, I lost several items because the security officer counted my makeup as liquid. Perfect not even close but wildly different.

Beloved, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are perfect.

And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation. Hebrews 5:9

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.  Deuteronomy 32:4

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it–not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it–they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:25

We are perfected through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are wildly different. [Tweet “When God looks at us, He looks through the lens of perfection. “]

“God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 2 Samuel 22:31

Beloved, we are not perfect but are we imperfect or just wildly different.  Jesus made us perfect and when He died on the cross. When we believe that He is God’s Son and ask Jesus to become our personal savior, forgive us of our sins, we become children of God. While on earth, we cope with our imperfections. We can keep in perfect peace when our minds are steadfast on God. As we trust God and claim His promises, our imperfections change with the power of God’s word.

“And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.” Psalm 12:6.

God says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17   I hope that we sharpen each other and we can celebrate together our imperfections.

What imperfections do you need to give to God? He loves us and understands our imperfections. Will you dare to be Wildy Different?

Father God, I am so thankful that you do not expect perfection. You love us because we are wildly different. I am in awe of your majesty and that you love us. Lord you forgive us our sins as far as east is from the west. You call us as ministers of reconciliation. You give us peace when we make mistakes. You love us and you are good. There is nothing that God will not forgive. Let us not dwell on our imperfections, let us dwell on God’s attributes and that He sees us through the perfect blood of Jesus Christ. Thank you that you love us because we are wildly different.

Whatever is good and perfect comes down

I need to give up on thinking that God can’t use me in any way for HIm. This keeps me from working on my second book of poetry and also from writing on my blog. Thanks for this reminder that God doesn’t except perfection.
