Got Shame?

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame You will forget the shame of
your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.  Isaiah 54:4

I can hear the words echo in my mind, “Shame on you!” Condemnation, recrimination, and self-hate filled me because of poor choices. There was no jury saying, you are guilty. I felt the guilt and shame. I knew in my head when I confessed my poor choices (sin) that God forgave me but Satan needled me and my own thoughts would remind me and I could not forget my choices. No matter how many good choices I made, I focused on what I did not on what I was doing. Have you been there? Have you said something to your husband, your child, your employer that you wished you had not said? Have you made a poor choice?

Beloved, in 1 John 1:9, God says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us. In Psalm 103: 9-12 says that He forgives us as far as east is from the west. He does not repay us as we think our sins deserve. I love this Psalm because in verses 1-5 is my testimony. Casting Crowns sings about God’s forgiveness in this song East to West. Finally, in the Message Bible, I love Psalm 32, He forgave the guilt of my shame. Do you believe forgiveness is for someone else? That is what lie Satan had me believing. After all I was a preacher’s kid, after all I had been a Christian since I was eleven years old, and after all I knew all about temptation. After all……can you hear the condemnation and recrimination? What ever your choice or mistake is, God forgives. He does not forgive some sins and not the others. He also provides the way out of the temptation.  Claim the verse in I John 1:9 and 1 Corinthians 10:13

I love the picture above, it is my granddaughter Emmy. She is carefree and shame-less. She only knows the freedom of being loved.

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God
chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.  1 Corinthians 1:27

Beloved, one day I decided to believe God and I gave those shameful thoughts and actions to God and I asked for His forgiveness. I am free from condemnation according to Romans 8:1. There is no shame, no condemnation, no recrimination in Jesus Christ. Choose today to believe the truth of John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that who ever so ever believes will have ever lasting life.”

I love Suzanne Ellers and I am linking up with her today to celebrate being shame-less.

“For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” Romans 6:7

Now I hear my God and Jesus gently calling me His beloved.

Father God, thank you for your forgiveness and that you forgive me as far as east is from west. Thank You for you love that cast out fear, thank you that there is no condemnation in you. Thank you Lord for your protection from Satan and that he’s defeated and has no power over us. Today I pray for who ever is reading this that they claim their freedom from shame and condemnation and they recognize and renounce any lies that they are believing such as they are unworthy of Your love and forgiveness. We are SHAME-Less because of Jesus Christ. Today I celebrate in the freedom of being loved. Blessings.
