Bible Study

I am assured all works together for good.

Would you agree beloved that this verse is often misused? The verse in its entirety says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV

This verse is often used to give comfort when the person is not a Christian, also to the Christian receiving this promise, when things are in chaos, and when things do not like a good ending and one must wait!

As a child of God, we have the promise that all things will work for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. This means that God will use the details in our lives for our good.

As a child of God, I counted on this promise when I decided to retire. However, fear threatened this decision. I’ve a friend Dr. Michelle Bengston wrote a bible study to go with her book, Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression that I was a beta reader for and her study really helped me with my decision to retire and the fear factor. Her bible study’s scheduled for release soon.

As a child of God, I counted on this promise when I hurt my back as a nurse. My employer was ready to discard me but God promised me a career. I hired on to an urgent care, transitioned to home health, returned to school, earned my degree in administration, needless to say I worked for almost thirty years instead of three years as a nurse.

As a child of God, I counted on this promise when my marriage troubled by hate and Satan’s lies. But perseverance, love and forgiveness I’ve been married forty-seven years.

As a child of God, I counted on this promise when I raised my two sons, they are both married with children of their own.

As a child of God, I count on this promise daily due to chronic pain. I don’t know the outcome of this but I know a God who gives me strength and grace that is sufficient to meet my needs for today.

Beloved, I can go on with answers of times that all things that worked together, like the time when we made $896.00 a month, and I would receive things in the mail like toothpaste. When our son was diagnosed with dyslexia, we were able to get him the right doctor and were given financially help due to our low-income.  When my husband was hurt in the grocery business and this cleared the way for me to become a nurse. I had applied for social security for migraine headaches but did not win and did not understand why I did not win, well it was not God’s will for me to be disabled but for me to become a registered nurse. Beloved, I never understood why I have this headaches but I do understand he works good for all that are called according to his purpose.

Beloved, this is a believer’s promise. Be careful when you quote it to someone. Also make sure you use the verse. He will use what is happening for good for those who love him who have been called to his purpose. In the midst of your chaos, what is your purpose? Do You love God?

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
