A New Heart and Spiritys
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.“I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.… Ezekiel 36: 25-27

Giving my heart to Jesus when I was eleven-years-old occurred at a Southern Baptist Girls auxiliary Camp. Sitting under the tree on a hot summer day, as I pondered the teaching that morning, I knew I was a sinner. How much of a sinner can one be at the age of eleven? Well, we are all born sinners. Sin entered the world through the first Adam. Adam created by God physically and spiritually alive, but when he and Eve sinned, they died spiritually. Therefore, the rest of the human race was born physically alive and spiritually dead. That is until Jesus’ birth, his birth, the second Adam born spiritually and physically alive. He who knew no sin became sin so that we would have eternal life. John 3:16-17 says,

For God So Loved
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.…

I wish I could say my heart always honors Jesus. However, times were hard in my marriage around the twenty-five year mark. I harbored hate in my heart for my husband. I worked my way through nursing school with the plan that as soon as I graduated I would pursue a divorce. I harbored un-forgiveness and bitterness clouded my graduation from nursing school. This hate led me to separate for four months but we never got to see a lawyer because my heart knew God could heal my marriage.  I knew that divorce was a splitting my heart and I felt one can never turn back from that pain. Well, it was not God’s plan for me to divorce and after four months, we reconciled.

In 1995, I discovered a love for my husband, God’s healing of my marriage is due to giving my heart to God completely. Meeting with three praying woman, prayerfully I completed the Steps to Freedom by Neil Anderson. I forgave my husband for the many hurts and I agreed with God to not hold these things against him any longer. God said,  I will give you a new heart.” This is exactly what He did for me when I give him my heart. He heals my damaged emotions.

In July, we will celebrate forty-five years of marriage. I walk in forgiveness. On Monday, Proverbs 31 ministry will begin a study on a book by Suzanne Ellers, The Mended Heart. Does your heart need mending? There is still time to sign up for the study at http://www.proverbs31ministy.org .  I would love to hear from you. I would love to have you join this study. I would like to give several copies of this book away, please tell me in the comments, why you would like to read The Mended Heart.

Beloved, Jesus is waiting to hear, “Jesus, I will give you my heart, my whole heart.”
