Is There A Way To Wisdom?

Read Job 24-28

Have you ever had your integrity called into question? I received a call that required some investigation on my part of one of that nurses had performed a procedure. As always, a call to the nurse, tell me about the visit. This call was misunderstood as me just searching for facts. Soon, being called into my supervisor’s office….

We read in chapter 25, Bilad according to Dr. Ryrie has run out of arguments so he does not attempt to prove Job wrong but that Job is presumptuous in thinking he can argue with God.

Then in Chapter 26, Job acknowledges the sovereignty of God on the universe. In verse 7, God stretches the northern sky over empty sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. I love that God wraps the rain in his thick clouds and the clouds don’t burst with the weight. He covers the face of the moon shrouding it with his clouds. The foundation of heaven tremble; they shudder at his rebuke. By his power the sea grows calm. His Spirit made the heaven beautiful, and his power pierced the gliding serpent.” How many of us are not blessed by the colors in the sky or the Northern Lights?

Job in the last two chapters of our reading 27 and 28, he maintains his integrity. He says: ” As long as I live while I have breath from God, my lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies. I will never concede that you are right; I will defend my integrity until I die. I will maintain my innocence without wavering. My conscience is clear for as long as I live.” Job 27: 3-6 Job has done no wrong, yet in this culture it would be assumed he sinned because of his loss of family, livestock, and health. Job continues to defend himself while scratching his head.

Then in chapter 28 Job explores God’s wisdom and understanding. God is the only way to wisdom. Job proposes the question, do people know where to find wisdom? Wisdom cannot be bought with gold, it cannot be purchased with silver.

And this is what he say to all humanity; The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding. Job 28: 28

Sitting in an office I defended myself. Accusation made that I asked harsh question of a peer of another culture. In my heart, until that moment, I had only spoke to the peer on the phone so I didn’t know the peer was of another culture. So I was innocent. There was not enough to put this incident in writing and so I returned to work having answered the questions asked. Beloved, sometimes when we are wrongly accused God is our only defense. Shortly, God gave me a new job. :-}
