Living Free

For freedom Christ has set us free;

I was asked what my ministry is at my church. My church has a Freedom In Christ Team, I have been involved since Neil Anderson came to our church in November 1995. I am a trained encourager. My role is to pray with a person who has chosen to go through the Steps To Freedom.

Before the appointment, the person is asked to fill out an inventory that prepares the person for the Steps To Freedom.  Neil Anderson says in the Bondage Breaker, “Christ has set each of us free through His victory over sin and death on the cross. But if you have failed to stand firm in the faith or you have willfully sinned, it is your responsibility to do whatever is necessary to maintain a right relationship with Christ. Your eternal destiny is not at stake, but your daily victory is.”

At church, an encourager and a prayer partner meet with the person going through the steps. The first meeting is to explore fear. We are to only have one legitimate fear object and that is God, but  we all have fears. The next meeting usually the next day is to pray through seven issues that cause conflict in the life of the Christian. This prayer session last from three hours to eight hours. In the book the Bondage Breaker by Neil Anderson, the Steps to Freedom are apart of the book. For the prayer session we use the Steps to Freedom booklet. Many people I know have gone through the steps on their own but I am thankful that I was lead through the Steps.

This prayer appointment that I had in 1995, changed my life and gave me my ministry of twenty years. Currently since September I have been a table leader as we have gone through chapter by chapter of Victory Over the Darkness and The Bondage Breaker. I have seen lives changed with the steps. The steps are important but it is Christ that sets us free. Daily if I give into negative or irrational thoughts and feelings or give into habitual sins, I am not free. If I choose not to forgive a person who has hurt me, I am not free.

Beloved, you do not have to be trapped by negative thoughts, you are not alone and you are not chained to hate and irrational thoughts. Suzanne Ellers has written two beautiful books The Unburdened Heart and The Mended Heart. Rene Swope has written The Confident Heart.  Each of these books along with the book Your Life Still Counts share that God wants to heal the broken places in our lives. Tracie Miles will be offering a free study with the book Your Life Still Counts and you can sign up at http://www.traciemiles.com

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)
