No Excuses

Today, the writing prompt from Suzanne Ellers is ‘no excuses’. What excuses prevent you from walking daily with the Lord? What excuses prevent you from reaching your goals? What excuses do you make when life is hard?

Do you not know that you are a temple of

Beloved, we need a no excuse attitude when it comes to daily quiet time and a daily walk with the Lord. One of the women who has mentored me is Becky Tirabassi. She is known for spending an hour a day with the Lord for over thirty years. She reads from the Change Your Life Bible, journals her prayers in My Prayer Partner Journal. She developed both of these methods after attending a youth conference and pledging to spend an hour a day with the Lord for the rest of her life. She is successful because one day in advance she books her appointment with God and then she keeps her appointment.

What are the excuses that prevent you having a successful daily meeting with the living God? I can’t get up earlier than my children. I am too busy. I do not have enough time in the day. A no excuse approach is I will book my appointment and I will keep my appointment with God by reading the Bible, praying and worshiping the Lord.

Beloved, we need a no excuse attitude when it comes to reaching our goals. One of my favorite excuses is I will start my diet on Monday and the day was Tuesday. Another excuse is I need just one more bite. Lastly, I am unable to exercise because I am in pain. I made so many excuses when food was my idol. I gained to 233 pounds in 2011 before I came before the Lord and asked for forgiveness and removed that idol from my life. You can read my story in Your Life Still Counts by Tracie Miles.  I am at goal weight and have been for two years.

Goals are important. The goal or wish is an avenue to help each of us be a better person. My goal is to show God’s love can only be blocked by my unwillingness or excuses. If I have a no excuse attitude, I will join God who is already at work around me. As far as personal growth and goals, remove obstacles and reach for the stars.

Lastly beloved, we need no excuse attitude when life is hard. If I feel sorry for myself or if I make excuses to not go forward, I will be beaten by life. One of my mottoes in life is “keep putting one foot in front of the other.” I use this one when life is interrupted by pain which is sometimes daily. Sometimes, I have to “act as if” everything is okay. I keep acting until the situation resolves. Many will say that is putting on a mask but I see if differently, life is hard and anyone can make an excuse to not live life but I want to live each day to its fullest. So if it comes down to acting or making an excuse it will be no excuses for me.

Father God, I want to honor you every day. Lord, open up Your word to me so that I hunger and thirst for Your word. Lord, help me have no excuses when it comes to walking with you and having quiet time. Lord, help each of us reach our goals and be with us when life is hard.

YES! This is beautiful, Diana! Thank you for sharing; I think most of us struggle with excuses when it comes to spending those daily moments with God. I love the idea of scheduling an appointment with God for the following day… brilliant!
