Potter

God’s Attributes

Potter (1)   Dale my brother  is very artistic. He was given a gift from God to paint. He can take a picture and then paint the picture with a variety of mediums. I am sure if he tried to make pottery, he would be successful. You have seen some of his pictures in my writings:  This is the skyline in Seattle that he photographed and then added  the accents. I added the memory verse. LOL. Thank God (1)     Each of us are given special gifts. God is the potter and we are the clay. In Psalm 139:14 he says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. In this same Psalm God states that He knew us in our mother’s womb. We all have a god vacuüm inside our hearts that only God can fill.  He says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands  Draw near
to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands . In Hebrews 10:22,

let us draw near  to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience .”

Beloved, if God is the potter and you are the clay, what might he be wanting to shape you? Is he calling you to home school your children? teach a Sunday School class? Has he asked you to help a stranger? Start a ministry for the homeless? Has he asked you to share your faith with your co-worker? Has he asked you to move on, he knows you lost your husband and you are staying in the house grieving instead of moving on with your life? Has he asked you to let go of your past and claim God’s forgiveness?

He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.  Jeremiah 18:6

We are in God’s hands, He is the potter we are the clay. He invites us to be his clay.

What is God asking you to do for Him? Are you willing to be in his word daily and in prayer daily and let him shape you and mold you?

Have Thine own way Lord Have Thine own way Thou art the potter I am the clay Mold me and make me after Thy will While I am waiting yielded and still

Have Thine own way Lord Have Thine own way Search me and try me Master today Whiter than snow Lord wash me just now As in Thy presence humbly I bow

Have Thine own way Lord Have Thine own way Hold over my being absolute sway Filled with Thy spirit till all can see Christ only always living in me

Just as my brother is artistic and I am able to write, God gives us our talents and He would love to use the talents He has given us. What is your special gift? He has shaped you and wants to use you just as you are.

Father God, you are the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me, this is my prayer. Today, I want to serve you with my words, my actions and my deeds. I am in awe of your attributes. You alone are worthy to be praised, thank you for your word, thank you for making me into a vessel that can be shaped and used. Let each one reading this to come before your potter’s wheel and be willing to be the clay that He makes and molds.

A beautiful post. That is awesome that your brother can paint so well. I wish I could paint and/or draw…but oh well. I can write and I just use that gift. He is the potter we are the clay, mold me and make me Lord. I love that hymn. There’s just something about the old hymns. Bless you my friend, ~Shannan

Love this devotion Diana! Today in church we sang Spirit of the Living God. This devotion reminds me of that Hymn too. You, my friend are a very blessed writer, and the picture of the skyline is beautiful.

    Blessings! ♡

I love how God made each of us unique and chose gifts just for us. We each have a purpose in life and spending time with God and in His word helps us to focus on what He is calling us to in our lives. Great words today!
