Psalm Sunday-Psalm 139

Where do you go that you sense God’s presence the most? I happen to live about forty-five minutes from the Pacific Ocean. The ocean is vast and one can not see where it ends to the east, the west or when one is looking straight ahead. It gently laps at your feet or will chase you up to shore if you do not want to get your feet wet. If his thoughts of you are as many as the sand on the sea-shore, beloved he thinks of you often!

Psalm 139: 1-6 Father God, you have examined my heart and you know everything about me. Beloved, these verses share that God knows when we get up and when we sit down, when we travel and when we return home. What we are going to say before we are going to say it. How comforting is verse 5-6, ” You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessings on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!”

Psalm 139: 7-12  Father God, we could never hide from you.

Psalm 139: 13-16 Father God, Thank you for making us so wonderfully complex

Psalm 139: 17-18 Father God, your thoughts out number the sand on the sea-shore every day.

Psalm 139: 19-22 Father God, destroy the evil, the enemies.

Psalm 139: 23-24  Father God, I pray this prayer.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Beloved, do you have anxious thoughts? Pray the above prayer often. Let the words permeate your prayer life. Change the things God is asking you to change. Is there something that is offending God? I gave up nail-biting this year a habit that only hurt me. This habit put me at risk for infection, I felt shame. I wasn’t trusting God with my anxiety. What might you need to give up?

Using these verses as a part of my quiet time, listening, praying and claiming God’s verses lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Beloved, this is one of my favorite Psalms and my favorite Psalm that I use to encourage others. I use the above verse but mainly I use Psalm 139: 14Psalm139_14

Beloved, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. This is the truth.

Beautiful post full of beautiful truths found in His Word! I too love the ocean. I feel so small among its power and grandeur. I wish I lived closer to the water. I feel closest to God in the morning, right before I open my eyes for the day. I start talking to Him then. Very intimate and something I’m so grateful for! Thank you for sharing this, Diana!

What beautiful words to pray to our Father! Thank you for another beautiful example. I love the ocean as well, but unfortunately I must travel many miles to reach it. I live near Indian Lake, which is nothing compared to the ocean, but still, it is a place where I can go and sit, and listen for His voice! It is a place where I can be alone with nothing but my thoughts, my Bible, my journal, and my God!
