Five Minute Fridays

Speak or for ever hold your tongue!

Five Minute Friday’s A time to write for five minutes on one word then connect with amazing writer’s. The word this week is “Speak.”

Once I said, “I do”. Several at my wedding thought I’m too young calling the night before the wedding but not speaking a word at the wedding (thank goodness). I love him but soon discontent seeps in and I become angry and speak my mind. Around year twenty-five, I spoke to God and said, I want out of this marriage and God spoke to me when I try to dissolve the marriage and he said “No, try forgiveness.” Then, I learn to speak softly, lovingly, and I learned to sometimes hold my tongue.  Most importantly I learn to live walking in forgiveness. We said “I do” forty-seven years ago.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

Hi Diana, I’m realizing this in friendship. I think it happens in every relationship, but the reaction to pull away instead of honestly talk things out is easier. Sticking it out is tough, but I want to believe its worth it.

Thank you for sharing this. Visiting from fmf ☺️

Dear Julia, Friendships seem to be for seasons. But the ones that last are the ones we love and hold loosely and forgive over and over again. Those friendships are worth it. The song we learned in girl scouts some are silver some are gold. When I am in disagreement I really have to look at me and see if it is pride, jealousy, or some unmet expectation that I had. Something I expected and never told the person. Sometimes it is that way in marriage also. Thank you for reading and responding to my blog. Blessings Diana

Walking in forgiveness is truly a message from God. It’s a message given to us all. Oh, that the world around us would learn to walk in forgiveness. But, without the Gospel, it’s an impossible walk.

    Forty-seven years! That’s awesome. I’m twenty-one years in.

Glad to be your FMF neighbor.

Dear Cheryl, I learned if we do not acknowledge the feelings of hurt the forgiveness doesn’t last but in five minutes I could not share that. The words that work the best are Lord I choose to forgive _________ for________ and it made me feel ____________________ now I give up my right to seek revenge and I trust ________ to your care. Thank you for responding to my blog. Blessings Diana
