    I Am One United With The Lord

    “With this ring I thee wed.” I repeated those words many years ago. Filled with hope and promise a bride and groom are united giving us a beautiful picture of being one with Christ.

    But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17

    Beloved, consider this fact we’re united with the Lord and one with him in spirit. How does this impact our lives? We are to according to 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

    Additionally, we are to follow Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” The tongue can easily grieve the Holy Spirit and our thoughts can separate us from God. That is why we are told to take every thought captive to the Lord. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

    Daily, we are united to Christ, we are one in Spirit. The Holy Spirit testifies with our spirit and we call God, Abba Father. Abba Father can be translated, daddy. We read this in Romans 8: 14-17,

    For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

    Beloved, we have a rich heritage. We are one with the Lord. Just as I married my high school sweetheart forty-six years ago, we pledged our love and became one, I became one with the Lord when I was eleven. What about you when did you become one with the Lord?

    Daily Challenge: Write out 1 Corinthians 6:17 and memorize this verse.

    Father God, thank you that you gave your son to die on the cross so that anyone who believes that Jesus Christ died for their sins may have eternal life. Lord thank you for the Holy Spirit and his role to be our comforter. Lord, I pray that we embrace that we are untied with the Lord, we are one Spirit. In Jesus Name, Amen
