Did you see the movie The War Room? It is a great movie on praying against unseen evil that seems to disrupt our day. You have an argument with your husband, a bad day at work, a troubled teen, or more serious, a spouse that is cheating on your marriage, feeling harassed at work, your child has ADHD, you have more month than money, or you are at odds with your friends. Who is the real enemy in these situations?

Beloved, are we spending all of our time shadow boxing when God clearly shows us how to strategically battle the real enemy?

    Cast Your Cares on Him
casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 1 Peter 5: 7-9

My ministry since 1996, leading women through the Steps to Freedom by Neil Anderson. Just knowing that the enemy is prowling around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour, and the key is one must resist him. We need to know who we are in Christ. When we know who we are in Christ, we are strategically ready to battle the real enemy.

Beloved, when conflict arises with in your job, with neighbor, or your husband, your mother in law, be aware of who are we really fighting? Are we spending all our time shadow boxing when God clearly shows us how to battle the real enemy? What were the ways in the movie War Room? Prayer, prayer, prayer, praying scripture, yes praying scripture.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 1 Peter 1:13

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:11

God desires a relationship with us. In order for me, to lead the women through the steps appointment, I have a prayer partner that is praying for both of us. Prayer is the key to handling any conflict and resisting the devil. In James 4:8, the verse says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Additionally we need to dress for the battle by putting on the armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-20

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that when I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

I have many shadow boxing events, during nursing school I struggled in my walk with the Lord. I believed the lies of the devil. How about you? A time when you have distanced yourself from the Lord?

I struggled several times in different management jobs. Fears involved and we know who authors fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind.’ Beloved, give your job situation to God.

I struggled with emotions of sadness, depression and helplessness until I accepted that God forgives my past actions and forgives me as far as east is from the west. Beloved, he gives gladness for sadness, peace for depression and hope for helplessness, I am proof of this.

All within me, Praise His Holy Name!
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His loving kindness toward those who fear Him.As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.… Psalm 103: 11-13

So the real enemy is Satan and He is seeking to destroy us. We do have a sin nature but we seek God first, the Lord has compassion on his children. He promises that when we resist the devil, he will flee from us.
