    Whispers from God

Yesterday my husband and I visit San Diego to attend a friend’s retirement ceremony. Our day perfect with the view of the ocean and honoring a member of the Navy serving for 23 years. The breeze on the ship warms my face, and as I listen to the speakers, tears come to my eyes. How does one not cry when you hear our National Anthem, Old Glory (God Bless The USA), the poem The Watch, and God Made Navy Wives?

As we celebrate, I could not help but think how God loves this man and his service of our country. He wears his highly decorated uniform with pride and stands with pride, this pride is God-given and not a puffed-up pride but the pride of a job well-done.

So, God whispers to my heart and I recall that each of us have a job to do for God. I have no doubt that this man follows his father’s step in the military and he may have contemplated this as a job that God prepares for him but his we know that God prepares us and that success is from God.

What job has God asked you to do? For me, I wear different hats as a mom of grown sons, a wife, a mother-in-law, a grandmother, and my career as a nurse. My on-line ministries are so important to me. Serving for over twenty years as an encourager for Freedom In Christ brings so much joy to see a woman walk in freedom. Daily, I ask God what is my next step? I hear His whisper, “Be still and know I Am God.”

Although I will never be decorated, as my friend’s husband, I know that someday I will hear His whisper, “well done, my good and faithful servant.”
