The first time I heard of the devil’s schemes in 1995, I’m to attend Neil Anderson Freedom In Christ conference in Escondido, California. I fall prey to the devil’s scheme and hurt my back. Unable to sit, I’m not able to go to the conference but I listen to the tapes, I’m scheduled for a missionary trip, I’m determined to go, so I’ve completed a personal freedom appointment. I board the plane to Israel and would you believe me if I told you that once I begin my missionary trip that my back pain resolves.

In Ephesian 6:11 we’re told to put on the full armor of God so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes. Beloved, there’s action involved take our stand, nothing passive about this verse. Same with the verse in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil, he will flee from you.” We have to do the work.

What is a warrior? When one goes to war, my brother’s trained a warrior when he joined the marines at the age of eighteen to protect his country. Yet, he fought a war that’s controversal, he fought in Vietnam. He is my hero, still suffers to this day.

“But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.” Jeremiah 20:11.

Another type of warrior’s popular and that a prayer warrior.  A person with a cause that prayers as if there is no tomorrow. “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what’s done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

To be a prayer warrior it is helpful to have a notebook, a pen, a Bible. When a request is given, record a date. Pray and record results and outcomes. Claim verses for the prayer request. Tracie Miles says, “To pray without ceasing just never say, Amen.” Suzie Eller will start on November 1, a 21 day adventure for prayer. All you need is a notebook, a bible and to subscribe to her blog at http://www.tsuzanneller.com/

I’ve led many through the Steps to Freedom, encouraged them to resist the devil, renounced the things that give a foot hold to evil such as not forgiving someone, pride, and harboring hate, encouraging the person to walk daily with the Lord because one must submit to God, to fight against the evil forces and one must put on your armor daily that’s listed in Ephesians 6.

Beloved, being a prayer warrior involves submitting to God, resisting the devil, drawing near to God and he will draw near to you.

Father God, the evil that surrounds us is real. We need to keep alert so that the prowling lion will not devour us. We must not fall prey to the schemes of the devil. He is subtle, insidious, and sneaky. Lord prepare us to be one step ahead of him as he likes to make us think that we’re to busy for church, to busy to pray, to busy to spend time alone with you. Lord remind us we have already conquered Satan and that nothing can separate us from the love of God. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
