    Galatians 2

    It was for freedom that Christ set us free;

Love God Greatly provides us with a beautiful plan to be in God’s word and study on your own. Sorry this week is late as I was not feeling well and forgot I had not posted this. Here is the reading plan. WK2ReadingPlan

    Galatians 2: 4-5

S This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

O False teachings from false believers, Jesus plus added things brings salvation, Jesus + works. The work was circumcision. False believers adding to the gospel. We are saved by grace through faith and not by works can anyone boast, salvation is a gift from God. False believers trying to add took away the freedom of we are saved by grace. God’s grace. Paul wants us to know that the truth is freedom. We have freedom in Christ. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Ephesians 2:8

A Beloved, works are a by-product of faith but works alone cannot save us. The false believers were invading the churches in Galatia and trying to disrupt the message that believe in Jesus Christ as God’ son and the redeeming work on the cross was not enough to be saved. Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior, that his death on the cross is the reason we have freedom? When you hear false doctrine, do you recognize the false message? How do you portray Jesus in your day? Do you through faith approach God with freedom and confidence?

P Father God, thank you for your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for the book of Galatians. We have freedom in Christ. You give us FREEDOM. Faith, Redemption, Everlasting Love, Everlasting Life, Deliverance from the evil one. Omnipresence -always with us, Omnipotence-always with us Omniscience-always knowing. Matter- we matter to you God. For all of these things I am grateful, thank you that your word in Ephesians 3:12, “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence”. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Galatians 2: 8, 10

S For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.

O Peter was witnessing to the Jews and Paul was witnessing to the Gentiles. The disciples were no more important than Paul, God used each to further the message of freedom in Jesus Christ. Paul reminds us that God wanted each of them to remember the poor which he embraced his calling.

A What is God calling you to do? We all have our sphere of influence. What is yours? God is at work around each one of us and He invites us to join Him, will you pray daily and ask God who you are to witness to today? How do you remember the poor? Today, who is God asking you to be the arms of Jesus?

P Father God, thank you for calling us to serve and witness, not only the poor but to be witness. Thank you for the willingness of the disciples and Paul to take the gospel to the outer parts of the world. In Matthew 28: 18-20 says, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Lord, I am willing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Galatians 2: 12-13

S For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

O Because of what Jesus did on the cross, the disciples had participated in the freedom that Jesus’ death brought them. However, the disciples were born Jewish and followed certain laws so as a human Peter reverted back to following the laws because of fear. Then this led to hypocrisy. Paul and Barnabas were ministering to Gentile believers in Antioch. Peter visited and demonstrated the hypocrisy which effected Barnabas. Paul addresses this hypocrisy.

A Paul confronts Peter with love, have you ever had to stand up for your faith? Paul knew God’s word in order to address the hypocrisy. Do you read God’s word? Do you memorize God’s word?

    P. Father God thank you that Jesus paid it all and all to Him I owe. I love you Lord and thank you for your word. For the Holy Spirit who brings to mind your word, who helps me fight hypocrisy in my own life. Father God allow me to handle the word of God correctly.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Galatians 2: 15-16

S “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

O Paul declares that faith in Jesus Christ is the way to be justified not by works we do but by faith. Justified is as if we had not sinned.

A God does not have any grandchildren, I was born in a Christian home, but I had to believe in Jesus and I had to accept Jesus myself. Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior?

P Father God, thank you for your word that explains we are saved by grace through faith, and we are justified by Jesus. You see us through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Our works are a by-product of the faith that we have in Jesus. Lord for those in my sphere that have not accepted you as their savior that you send the Holy Spirit and open their spiritual eyes, bring them to a saving knowledge of you. In Jesus’ name, Amen

    Galatians 2:19-21

S “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
O Paul states that he died to the law and believes in the saving power of Jesus Christ alone. He states that he lives by faith, he knows that when Jesus was on the cross Paul was on his mind. We have been saved by grace through faith, not by works should anyone boast.
A When did you accept Christ as your savior? Do you live by faith in Jesus Christ? Do you celebrate God’s grace in your life? Have you been justified by the One who gives us eternal life?
P Father God, thank you for Grace and that we have been saved by Grace. Help me proclaim Your Grace and Mercy, t
