Mustard Seed Faith blog poses questions: Do you ever have doubts? Does something either happen, or not happen, which causes you to wonder if God is really there? Silently Satan slithers in and places doubts in your heart, like he did with Eve.  In Genesis 3: 1 Satan says, ““Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Eve talks with Satan and Satan plants doubts, roots take hold, nothing can stop Satan now.

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’

Eve now remembers the instructions from Adam incorrectly. Here is what God said in Genesis 2: 15-17

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

God did say to not touch the tree but he did not add the rest of the command. Eve entering into this conversation is tempting the lust of the eyes. The fruit is appealing, it looks delicious, its color is brighter than any of the other fruit, she can almost taste the fruit, her mouth waters in anticipation.

Beloved, we know how this story ends. Genesis 3: 6

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Eve she bought the lie, she believe Satan and deceit entered the world. The fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye and desirable for gaining wisdom. She gave some to her husband. He ate, immediately they felt shame.

What are your doubts? Are you struggling in your marriage? Are you struggling in school? Do you have a child that has special needs? Do you have more money than month?  Are you having an emotional affair with someone at work? Are you struggling with your job? Are you homeless? Are you unemployed?

Doubts lead you to having a lack of trust so it is hard to trust God when you have a co-worker that is harassing you at work, or you do not have enough money to pay rent? What we need is the faith of a mustard seed?

“He told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and  planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.’”

    Matthew 13:31-32

What does faith look like? Faith is if you are struggling in your marriage that you pray, seek counseling, talk with your spouse and don’t give up. Faith is the opposite of doubt. Prayer leads one into confidence that God cares. Give God your doubts. Find a trusted friend to share. Find a prayer partner. It only takes the faith of a mustard seed.  Faith in my life occurred when I returned to school as an adult and became a nurse. My husband disabled and I needed a strong profession, I returned to school as an adult. I am close to retiring with a satisfy career as a nurse with my Master’s Degree. Each day I thank God for my career and my faith of a mustard seed.  Blessings.
