What inspires me to write a second year on adoration, praise, and attributes of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? Have you ever thought of the many attributes of God? God is Gracious, God is Good, God is Grace are just a few that start with the letter of “G.” In a classic book by A. W. Tozer on the attributes of God, The Knowledge of The Holy, he shares, “Man’s spiritual history “positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God. Worship is pure or base as the worshipper entertains high or low thoughts of God.”

In this book, Tozer describes: Gracious: God enjoys giving great gifts to those who love Him, even when they do not deserve it. Grace is the way we describe that inclination. Jesus Christ is the channel through which His grace moves. The Bible says, “The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Another attribute: Goodness: “The goodness of God is that which disposes Him to be kind, cordial, benevolent, and full of good will toward men.’ This attribute of God is why He bestows all the blessing He does on His followers. God’s actions define what goodness is, and we can easily see it in the way Jesus related to the people around Him.”

We owe it all to Christ and grace. Ephesians 2: 7-9

    Alive with Christ
so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.…

Jesus is according to Hebrews 4: 15-16 our High Priest.

    Jesus the Great High Priest
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Beloved, I needed a gracious loving God when in college I strayed far from God, filled with hate, decisions were made that were later changed because of God’s grace. God did not leave me or forsake me because He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. If you have strayed, repent and ask for forgiveness He is gracious to forgive and you have a clean slate.

Father God, I pray for my sister who may need a clean slate, a loving and gracious God. Thank you for being just that God. In Jesus’ name Amen
