    Thrive

    Bumble Bees.

“According to the laws of aerodynamics the bumble bee cannot fly: its body is too heavy for its wings and that’s the simple reason why. But the bumble bee doesn’t know this fact, and so it flies anyway for all to see. Remember this when you’re losing faith or hope. God’s proof that the impossible can be.” A. S. Waldrop

When I was born, I had a birth defect. I have no central vision in my left eye, only peripheral vision. The eye specialist’s advice was let me live a normal life. Some things were difficult. I have no depth perception so you can image me playing baseball? My mother’s fear that I would be hurt prevented her from letting me ride a bicycle until I was fourteen. Sometimes there are difficult situation that we face and we have a choice to make we can be defeated or we can be like the bumble bee who doesn’t know the laws of aerodynamics and we can THRIVE.

Sometimes to thrive we need to Taste and see God, to Humble ourselves before the Lord, to Rejoice in the Lord, to Imitate Him, to hear His Voice, and to celebrate our Eternity with God.

T-Taste. “How sweet are Thy words to my taste! Yes, sweeter that honey to my mouth. From Thy precepts I get understanding: Therefore I hate every false way.” Psalm 119: 103-104. “O, taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the woman who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 32:8 When we read God’s word, we grow closer to God and His words are so sweet. His words are the fragrance of our lives.

H-Humble. Neil Anderson wrote, “Humility is confidence properly placed in God.” In Psalm 25:9, “He leads the humble in justice, and He teaches His way, all the paths of the Lord are loving-kindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.” Paul says in Ephesians 4:1-3, “ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Each day I give my day to the Lord as his humble servant.

R-Rejoice. “I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness. As a bridegroom decks himself with garland, and as a bride adorn herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10. In Philippians 4:4 we are encouraged, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again, REJOICE.” It is hard to have a bad attitude when you rejoice. Every day have an attitude that rejoices.

I-Imitate. The apostle Paul says in I Corinthians 4:16, “I exhort you therefore, be imitators of me.” A caution in 3 John: 11 “Beloved do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.” I have a saying “Act As IF” when I am insecure I act as if and my confidence returns.

E-Eternal Life. “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. Additionally in Romans 6:22-23, “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slave to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal lie. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Every day with the Lord is better than the day before.

Today will you taste and see that the Lord is good? Will you take your refuge in him? Will you place your confidence in God? Will you walk with him in humility and gentleness? Will you rejoice in the Lord despite your circumstances? Will you imitate good not evil? Will you take the gift of Jesus and live victoriously, will you thrive? Today do you know that you will spend eternity with Jesus? Guess what? Eternal life is now.

Oh beloved one, the rewards of walking with Jesus and thriving in Jesus are so many. What can you do today to taste and see that God is good? Do you read your bible? Pray? Trust? Do you need to forgive someone who betrayed you?

Father God, today is the day of thriving. I want to taste and see that you are good. I want to humble myself, and walk in your path, showing love and forbearance. Bring to my mind any way that I am being prideful. Let me rejoice in the Lord, even when times are difficult. Father God, let me imitate Jesus. Let me faithfully pray. Father God, let me walk each day in this life as if today is the day Jesus will return. Let me celebrate my eternal life. Your son paid the price so that I have eternal life, let me be eternally grateful for all that Jesus did for me. Lord for the woman who is reading this may she feel your presence, may she face her trial knowing that you want her to thrive not just survive. Just as the bumble bee does not know he cannot fly, let her soar in her relationship with you. Let her face the impossible and know that all things are possible through Jesus. If she does not know you personally draw her to you, let her know that you love her so much that you let your son die on the cross for all her sins and all she has to do is ask for forgiveness, believe in Jesus and she will be saved. Blessings. Diana
