He Gives Light to the World

    LightofWorld_Diana

Care-free as a child I’m learning a song, This Little Light Of Mine, singing and performing the motions of the songs, my friends and I attend Sunday School where we learn that Jesus is the Light of the World.

Jesus’ at the Temple at dawn when the religious scholars and Pharisees led a woman caught in the act of adultery.

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. John 8: 3-6

But Jesus stoops down and begins to write in the sand and without a word the men leave that were accusing this woman and Jesus asks in verse 10, ““Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”  I wonder how what she’s feeling as she watched the men turn and walk away til there’s no one left and as she looks in to the kind and compassionate eyes of Jesus and she said, ““No one, sir,”  Jesus replies, “Then neither do I condemn you,”Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” Wow, what a testimony she had, can you image her standing up in her Sunday school class and giving her testimony. Each of us have an amazing testimony, Jesus meets us where we are, forgives us of our sin and redeems our lives, sets us free.

Jesus message that day in the temple did not end with the woman caught in adultery. He proclaims to the world, I like the way the Message Bible reads, “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.” John 8: 12

God is I AM. Jesus is the I Am of the New Testament and over the next eight days I am going to share Jesus’ I Am statements.

Sin is sin, God doesn’t grade sin, in Romans 3: 23 God’s word says, “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.”  We have two flawed people running for president and I’m sure if Jesus bent down and started writing in the sand if they both know Jesus as their Savior it would say FORGIVEN. As Christians, it is harder and harder to remember that our responsibility to God is to shed light and not to throw stones.

Beloved, how do we shed light? Remember let’s be bold. Memorize a few verses or have a card in your purse with these verses and questions. Do you believe in God? Do you believe that God loves you? Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God? Do you believe you are a sinner? Do you believe Jesus died for your sins? Would you like to receive Jesus in your heart as your personal Savior?  Verses are John 3, 16, Romans 3:23,Romans 5:8,  and Romans 10:9-10 has the recipe for the prayer to accept Christ.

“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Another way to share your light is to share you testimony or the reason for your smile or your joy.

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15

The song This Little Light of Mine as a child I remember being carefree singing I won’t let Satan blow it out, as I would do the motions. But what blows or threatens to blow the light of Christ out of your life? Is Satan bothering you with an old stronghold, an old habit, an addiction, a worry? Are you having an emotional affair with someone? an actual affair? one must repent and rededicate one’s life just as the woman caught in adultery did.

Beloved, how do we keep the light burning for Christ? We have to walk daily with Jesus Christ. Max Lucado admitted to being a prayer wimp when he wrote, Before Amen: The Power of the Simple Prayer.  Join me with Suzi Eller in her 21 day adventure of prayer at http://tsuzanneeller.com/. Reading God’s word so important to the believer.

Life Lesson: There’s Light at the end of your tunnel as long as Jesus is your Savior.

Song: Here I am to Worship

Father God, I am in awe of your majesty and that you are the great I AM. You have given us Jesus as the light of the world. May his light shine in every nook and cranny of our lives because we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Forgive us Lord where we have failed you, help us to be more bold to witness, to forgive those that have hurt us, to love those that are hard to love, to vote even though the candidates are flawed. Help us to be light in this dark world where evil is accepted and even praised. Where Christians are now in the minority and we have to watch what we say and do, let us be a light that shines. We pray all of this in Jesus’ name Amen.
