Waiting on God For An Answer

Are you waiting on God for an answer to prayer? With the current crisis we are all in God’s waiting room. We have an invisible enemy. This virus has brought us to our knees.

    A promise that sustains me,

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Joseph is our Hall of Faith hero, his life was so complex. He is in the Hall of Faith because of his faithfulness, perseverance, and integrity. God stayed with Joseph, He prospered in everything he did.

We find Joseph in prison, he is in prison for a crime he did not commit. He is gifted and he steps up to serve in prison by interpreting dreams of the baker and butler. He asks each of them to remember him.

However, the butler and the baker when released from prison, the dreams Joseph interpreted come to fruition, the Pharaoh hangs the chief baker as Joseph predicted. The butler is restored to his position and we read in Genesis.

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him. Genesis 40:23.

So Joseph is required to wait. He serves two years for a crime he did not commit.

Unjustly accused, he waits. Beloved what are you waiting? Perhaps you have a loved one that is estranged? Perhaps you have grown children who are no longer following God? Perhaps you are waiting on your spouse to accept Christ. Perhaps you are in a marriage that is struggling.

Unjustly accused, Joseph serves God by being a model prisoner. What might God be asking you to do in this time of crisis? Is there an elderly neighbor that needs groceries? Are you supporting your church with your tithes while sheltering in place? Are you helping less fortunate in this scary time?

Unjustly accused, Joseph has a relationship with God. God was with Joseph and he was with him in the wait. Joseph waits and depends on God.

Beloved, God is with us, he sent his son to die on the cross and was raised from the dead, Jesus was seen by over five hundred witnesses after he was raised from the dead. It only takes one witness to convict someone of a crime.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2.

Even though the butler forgot Joseph God didn’t forget Joseph. In my next blog we will review how Joseph is remembered.

Father God, times are uncertain and times are hard. We have much uncertainty and this may get worse before it gets better. However, you promise to never leave us or forsake us. We trust in you as we wait just as Joseph trusted. I pray for this crisis to come to an end. I ask that you keep all of us safe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Will you trust and obey?
