    At the feet of Jesus

“It was for freedom that Christ has set us free, therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

On Wednesday, I receive a blog: Coffee with Holly Gerth. Her blog this week encouraged her readers to not be fearful. My ministry at my church is helping women find Freedom In Christ. I learned for every fear there are lies one might be believing preventing the person from accepting the truth of who she is in Christ. II Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and sound mind.

In Luke 8: 42-48, we meet a woman filled with fear. She has suffered from bleeding for twelve years. Her culture considered her unclean. Can you imagine how lonely she must have felt? Perhaps her fear was that she would never be well. She heard Jesus is in town and contemplated the miracles Jesus had performed. Her thoughts, “If I can just touch him I will be healed.” The crowd made it very difficult for her to get close enough to touch Jesus. She was desperate. This was her last hope that Jesus could heal her. She had nothing to lose. She worked her way through the crowd. She came from behind stretching as far as she could she was able to touch the edge of Jesus’ cloak. She was healed immediately. Jesus said, “Who touched me?” Then Jesus declared, “Someone touched me, I know that power has gone out from me.” Luke 8:47, “Now the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at the feet of Jesus.” She had been rejected for twelve years she was trembling with fear; the verse continues, “in the presence of the people she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.” Not only did she face her fear but she heard Jesus’ compassionate voice in verse 48, “Daughter your faith has made you well: Go in peace.”

What are your fears? What lies are you believing? What if the woman continued to believe the lie that no one could heal her, that no one cared, or that she was not worthy because she had been told she was unclean? She would not have heard Jesus’ voice proclaiming her freedom as she was healed emotionally and physically.

Father God today I pray for each person reading this post that they realize we are worthy because of your love for us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. That you did not give them a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Your word says that you calm all of our fears. Your word says cast all of our burdens on you because you care for us. I pray right now that Satan will no longer have a foothold of unbelief in this person’s life. That the lies of Satan would be identified and your truth will prevail in their lives I confess at times I have been paralyzed with fear but you have me healed me of my fears. Lord we have the promise that we can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives us strength. Lord, let each one of us be encouraged today, to walk in faith, to pray and read your word daily claiming the verses of who we are in Christ and renouncing the fear and lies Satan would have us believe. There is healing at the feet of Jesus. Blessings.
