    One Word 2017

I’ve trouble spelling the word chaos!

I admire the children in the spelling tournaments that can spell words that I can’t say and most thankful for spell check. Chaos a word that’s hard to spell but when one’s in the midst of chaos Suzanne Eller writes about 3 things Jesus did in the midst of chaos. Job certainly experiences chaos in his life yet he trust in God. In Job 23: 11 he shares that he follows God closely. So did the disciples in the Gospels.

I love Suzanne Eller. I follow her and a member of her writing group. She has a new devotional being released in September. She says, “I have a new book coming out in three weeks, Come With Me Devotional: A Yearlong Adventure in Following Jesus.” For every book that’s purchased with proof of buy, she will match and give a book away. If you haven’t read the book Come With Me ,  please buy this book, for the adventures of Jesus challenging you to walk closely with him. She walked with Jesus and the disciples for a year in prayer and bible study before writing this book. Jesus had chaos in his life.

For me, I retired in June, my chaos settled down once I arrived at my father’s home. You see my goal at retiring to care for my father in Oklahoma. I’m lived in California. Our trip to Oklahoma defines chaos. We pulled out of Ramona, the first hill we tried to climb, with our Ford 1 ton truck and 37-foot 2017 5th wheel, we could barely climb. We hadn’t pulled the trailer since we bought in November, 2016. We made it twenty-five miles to the nearest Ford dealership and discovered we needed a high pressure gas gauge in the truck. Feelings of frustration entered our lives, we would have to stay a week longer in California, find a place to stay, pay to have the truck fixed as it wasn’t under warranty. Additionally, the on-line computer wasn’t working in the 5th wheel so the first night so we had to sleep without all our pop-outs. We had the brake lights go out on the trailer sixty miles from my dad’s.

Beloved, what do you do when you meet head on with frustration? chaos?  I pray, say verses I’ve memorized, read God’s word. I would like to tell you that was the end of the chaos in that trip. But, that is for another blog. I will let you know my husband and I are okay.

[Tweet “God cares bring your chaos to Him and He will give you peace.”]

Yes, I’ve trouble spelling chaos, but I know who to go to when chaos is in my life. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I claim His promises and I pray hanging on to the giver of life not a chaotic life but of a peaceful life.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  John 14:27
