The eternity ring so popular in the 1990’s and I really wanted one, so I left hints for my husband, many hints, for years, finally I gave up getting this treasure. In the verse above God calls us his treasured possession, each one of us a treasured possession. God a treasure creator, a treasure finder, a treasure holder, and a treasure seeker.

Mark 10:6 reminds us of the powerful time in Genesis when God created people, ““But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’

God has chosen you, he is the treasure finder. We have the parable of the lost sheep. “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? Luke 15: 4  He desires that none of His treasures be lost. In 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

God holds you, he is a treasure holder. He offers us hope in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” What better treasure than hope? In Romans 8: 31-34, nothing can separate us from the treasure holder.

God seeks you, he is a treasure seeker. Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” We as believers are to seek his kingdom first as it says in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

What do you think of when you think of a treasure? Of course, the treasure map that leads you to a hidden treasure full of gold coins and jewels. Our verse above Deuteronomy 7:6 says, “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the people’s on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”  God is our treasure. We are his treasured possession.

Beloved, are you his treasured possession?

We do receive earthly possessions that make us feel special and treasured. My husband did catch onto my clues and at our twentieth anniversary, he bought me an anniversary ring.
