    Whispers

God Whispers: Be Still and Know I am God.

God whispers: Be still and know I am God.

Recently, I heard Sarah Forhetz speak. A local news reporter for Springfield, MO, resigned a few months back and now works for Convoy of Hope. What an excellent message she declared from Exodus. The Israelites–over two million- led out of Egypt in a mighty fashion by Moses, exited after the last plaque of the death of the firstborn. They did not move unless God led them, yet they faced many difficulties. The Israelites grumbled and complained, and God still met their needs.

Be still and know I am God.

I’ve studied Exodus for the last five weeks with Proverbs31.org, through the First Five app, and I concluded that when we are fearful and stressed when we are grumbling and complaining, we need to stop and be still and know that He is God.

Back to the exodus, shortly into their journey, they feared for their lives, the Egyptians regretted letting them leave, so Pharaoh and his chariots followed them, and the Red Sea was in front of them, and they had no way to cross the Red Sea.

Have you ever had a time where you were facing obstacles? What is your Red Sea? Perhaps, debt is an obstacle, a child that is struggling, a strained relationship.

At this point in the story in Exodus 14, the people complained, fearing death, and God delivers them in a mighty way. He uses Moses to part the Red Sea, and the Egyptians perish this day.

How might God rescue you today? Will you stop and be still and know that He is God?

“But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.” Psalm 103: 17-18. ESV.

Father God, how I praise you that I can be still and know that you are with me and that you love me with an everlasting love. Thank you for the challenges of life and how you love and want what is best for each one of us. Today, will you help me to be still and know that you are God. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Will you be like Sarah, listen to God, and be willing to move or be still based on God’s will for you?  His call on your life?
