Romans 5:8

    Gratitude

I cannot be separated from the love of God.

I cannot be separated from the love of God. Romans 8: 38-39

The marketplace was extremely busy, it is a Saturday and I am a tourist in downtown Jerusalem. We were on the tour portion of the missionary trip. The week before selected by Global Missions Fellowship, I was there to share my testimony in Israel. The missionary portion of the trip, I was in the American Quarters in Nazareth. We were paired with a Christian, who lived in Nazareth. As we knocked on doors, the residents of Nazareth would open the door in curiosity because an American was standing on the doorstep. Then I would share my testimony of how God sent Jesus and I became a born-again believer. Sophia and Jarius listened intently to my testimony based on Psalm 103 and they believed and asked Jesus to become their Savior. As that week ended, those that accepted Christ were linked to a house church. The believers of that house church were in place to disciple the new believers. Now we were in a country as tourists. The smells were almost overwhelming the marketplace sold the raw meat of lambs and pigs. As I was walking the air in the marketplace became thick, musty and it seemed like the air was non-existent. A clamor or noise and suddenly, the individual markets started closing and somehow my arm was grabbed and I was in the middle of a scuffle. Fear engulfed me, I was separated from my team.

As a child of God, I cannot be separated from the love of God. Romans 8: 38-39 states, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

[Tweet “Nothing can separate you from the love of God.”]

Beloved, nothing can separate you from the love of God. In death we have the promise to be absent from the body is to be present with Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:8). In life we have the promise that if God is for us who can be against us (Romans 8:31b). The principalities or fallen angels, and the powers that we read about in Ephesians 6:12 is easily taken care of by putting on the full armor of God explained in Ephesians 6:13. Height nor depth represents our path and nothing can separate us from the love God has for us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Nor any other created thing covers everything but the Creator Himself, the love of God. For God so loved the world, he gave his only son that whosoever believed in him would have eternal life (John 3:16). We read in Romans 5:8 that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Psalm 42:6 says that God will keep us in perfect peace.

That day in the market, I was able to get my arm back from who was using it to keep people out of the store, wide-eyed I scanned my surrounding looking for the tour guide. I was having a hard time breathing, tingling had set in my fingers, I felt real danger and I was separated from the other team members. But then I saw the hat of the leader, he had come back searching for me. He held my hand tightly and led me to safety.

Beloved, who we are in Christ is a beloved child of God and nothing can separate you from the love of God. If God is for me, who can be against me. No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ.

Father God, thank you that nothing can separate me from your love. You are the alpha and the omega, the beginning the end. You call me daughter. I am in awe of your majesty. I praise you that I am loved with an everlasting love and that love secures me because in John 10:10 you know me by name.

What danger are you facing that causes you to fear?
Have you ever been in a situation where you were afraid, wondering where is God?
Will you embrace you are God’s child and nothing can separate you from the love of God?
