Romans 8:37

    Five Minute Fridays

    Why not?

Welcome to Five Minute Friday, where a word is given and an opportunity to write five minutes on this word. The word is Why!

Why is the question we ask when bad things happen to us or others.  As a mom, when my boys were small, they often asked Why. When I would answer that would lead to another Why question, oh those times are gone for me but I would welcome the chatter now. My questions now are directed at God. Why is there so much pain in the world? Why do good people suffer? Why do my friends suffer and my prayers for them go unanswered? Why do I have headaches?

The answers are with our Lord and Savior. The questions I have will be answered someday. Like why did you take my daddy home when I need him. Oh, beloved, sometimes the question is not Why but Why not. We live in a fallen world and God’s grace is sufficient to meet our needs. His word in Romans 8:37 says that we are more than conquerors because He loves us and in Romans 8:37-39 nothing can separate us from the love of God. When the why question plaques you, remember Psalm 32:8 the Lord is guiding you.

Father God, I praise you and thank you for today. I ask my beloved friends that read this blog to trust in you and to pray when doubt comes their way. So many promises are ours in the Bible that the Why question does not have to cause us fear. Your word says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that you did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I am in awe that I can trust you with my Why’s.

Beloved, what Why’s do you need to give to God? If God is for us who can be against us is the real question and with that I find peace. Romans 8:31

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
