    I find strength….

    strength (1)

Running through my mind is a song that I sang as a Sunday School teacher, The Joy of the Lord is my Strength.   Beloved, do you find strength in the Lord? God is good all the time. God is love. God is good all the time even in heart ache, illness, and when there is a tragedy that strikes and rocks our world.

The first time I remember tragedy was the assignation of President Kennedy. I was in sixth grade when we heard the news. How could anyone shoot the President? I think of how the shooting at Columbine were so tragic. Micheal W. Smith wrote this song, This Is The Time.  Of course, who can forget the tragedy of 9/11/2001. Alan Jackson wrote a song, Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning. I remember driving to work that day feeling nothing but sadness.

God is good all the time. Tragedy hit San Diego with wild fires in 2003, 2007 and 2014. But, there is just something about the tragedy that occurred last week in South Carolina. Nine beautiful people lost there lives in a senseless shooting. My heart just hurts with all the injustice.

Beloved, I find my strength in the Lord. If you ask me the reason for my hope, my hope comes from God.

They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Psalm 84:7

The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Psalm 28:8

The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. Habakkuk 3:19

The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. Luke 10:27

Who is your strength? Who do you turn to when tragedy occurs?

Father God, You are good, you are the alpha and the omega the beginning the end. We can come to you with our hurts and you become our strength. Lord, I ask that you heal our country. Lord, I pray for those who have lost loved ones in this tragic shooting that you meet there emotional needs. Help us to not become complacent in our walk with you. In Jesus name, Amen.
