    reach for the stars

Five Minute Friday the word is Reach

    Go

Reach for the stars.  Reaching occurs as we stretch arms upwards and we reach higher and higher.  I thought when we travel we say “I reached my destination.”  When we set goals we say “I reached my goal.”

When someone is hurting we reach out and touch the person’s hand to comfort them.  Also we sometimes reach out to a person for help.

The best person to reach for because  we are never rejected is  when we  reach out to Jesus.  He is always with us right within our reach.  So my friend reach for the stars because all things are possible when we love Jesus.

    Stop

    Freedom

It is for freedom that Christ  has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

What does it look like to reach for the stars and follow Christ? First we need to stand firm in our faith.  Have you accept Christ as your personal savior? Are you reading and studying God’s word, what about praying?  How often are you in God’s word? Are you memorizing God’s word? How about your prayer time? Is it consistent? Are you claiming God’s promises?

How do we become burdened by a yoke of slavery? The yoke in Gal 5:1 and Peter in Acts 15:10 Paul is talking about yoke of bondage that the Law brings, the yoke that no one can carry. The requirements of the Law are beyond our capacity!

Slaves were first mentioned in the Old Testament. The Israelites were in Egypt due to a severe drought and while they were there they multiplied; Joseph had died, a new king was in power and he did not know about Joseph and all he had done for Egypt. He saw the Israelites as threat. Oppression filled their lives to the point of bitterness.

Slavery occurs when we do not practice our freedom in Christ. The yoke of slavery may occur when you believe lies such as you are unworthy or insignificant. Have you ever heard that nagging voice inside of your head, you are a failure, you will never succeed, you will never beat this addiction, or who do you think you are to reach for the stars?

Freedom is ours as a child of God. Jesus secured our freedom when he defeated Satan by dying on the cross for our sins. When Jesus arose from the grave, victory was ours.

Dear One, renounce the lies, believe the truth, reach for the stars.

Father God, for the person struggling with believing you love her, let her know that she is loved because God you loved us first. For the person feeling condemned, let her know that there is no condemnation that she is free from all condemnation. For the person feeling like a failure and that she could never reach for the stars, let her know she can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens her. For the person who feels enslaved to an addiction or fear, let her know that you did not give her a spirit of fear but of power, love and discipline (sound mind). For the person believing the lie that she is worthless, let her know that she is God’s workmanship, created for good works.  Lord let us all remember that we can approach God with freedom and confidence. Let us be all we can be as we reach for the stars. Blessings.
