The Girl Around the Corner

2015-05-03 14.51.11

Two years ago, she walks into the motel where I am staying and time stands still, we have not seen each other since 1967 but when you have know each other since she’s four-years-old and I am seven we just pick up right where we left off, best friends.

Exploring my neighborhood after we move to Hardesty Street in Dodge City, Trudy is in the front yard playing. She lives around the corner. No other little girls close to my age in my neighborhood but we mesh and have fun together our age difference seems to not matter. We play after school, spend the night, do all the things that girlfriends do and then I move away in 1967 to California.

God is his wisdom gave us the ability to be friends with one another. David was friends with Jonathan. Jonathan was Saul’s son. God knit their hearts together. Jesus tells us in 1 John 3:16, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”

Beloved, my friend Trudy past away in October. God took her home. No warning. I am glad I had the reunion with her and I am thankful for Facebook because of Facebook we were reunited. I am thankful that when Dr. Michelle Bengtson book, Hope Prevails: Insight from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression, I sent her a copy.

I am having surgery and I am not sure how long before I will feel like writing hopefully won’t be long. I am blessed by many friends but if you will join in and pray for me and pray for Trudy’s family, she had four children that she left behind. She was fearfully and wonderfully made. Although she didn’t believe it. In the picture, she is the one standing in the back in the red shirt. I am at a loss without my first friend in life.

So thankful that God gave us the ability to have friends. Blessings.

Diana, I am so sorry for your loss! I have a childhood friend as well, that I love and treasure. We have been friends since 5 years old, and grew up together our whole lives. We lost contact in our 20’s, but through Facebook, have been reunited as well. I am praying for you as you grieve the loss of your beautiful friend, Trudy. I am also praying as you go to surgery today. I pray that your surgery will be successful, that you will be filled with peace from God, and for a speedy recovery. I love you, my beautiful friend! ❤
